THE INN AT IRWIN GARDENS (ADULTS ONLY), Columbus – A Smart Stay in the City
About the Hotel
Historic Garden Setting
The Inn at Irwin Gardens, built in 1864, features Italianate gardens inspired by a garden excavated at Pompeii. The gardens include marble busts of Greek philosophers, turtle pond fountains, and wisteria-covered pergolas. A raised terrace connects the house to the gardens, offering views of the sunken garden and trimmed large-leaf Lindon trees.
Elegant Guest Rooms
Rooms include the Elsie Sweeney Room with a mahogany king bed, the Joseph Irwin Room with a burl walnut empire-style set, and the Clementine Tangeman Suite with a sitting room, kitchenette, and sun room. All rooms have Roku or smart TVs, bathrobes, hairdryers, and electronic safes. Some overlook Fifth Street or the gardens.
Weddings and Events
The Inn hosts weddings and events with indoor and outdoor spaces, including the terrace and full garden. Packages include chairs for 50 guests, with options for larger events. Only 15 weddings are booked per year to preserve the site. The first floor of the historic home is available for events with antique furniture and garden access.

The dining experience was really special with delicious and filling options.
Staying at this hotel felt like being in a treehouse at a posh British club with brilliant views of the gardens to the east. The rooms were spacious, well-prepared, and very comfortable, offering a unique experience in a luxurious setting. However, the dining experience, while outstanding and rich in history, lacked variety in meat options. The service was impeccable, with helpful recommendations on local attractions, but the price may not fully align with the overall value provided.
